Hey, ladies! đŸ’«

Let’s get real for a moment—our relationship with money is deeply personal. It’s not just about what’s in our bank accounts; it’s about how we feel about money. Growing up, many of us were taught to think about money in limiting ways, and those beliefs can stay with us into adulthood. How many times have you heard things like:

  • “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”

  • “You have to work hard just to get by.”

  • “We can’t afford that.”

  • “Rich people are greedy.”

These beliefs, passed down from parents, society, or even friends, can create a mindset of scarcity. They make us feel like money is something to fear, or that it’s always out of reach. But here’s the thing: you can change that narrative.

The first step? Understanding how you see money and the internal dialogue you have around it. Are you saying things to yourself like:

  • “I’ll never have enough.”

  • “I’m just bad with money.”

  • “Every time I get ahead, something knocks me down.”

  • “I can’t seem to hold onto money; it slips through my fingers.”

These thoughts might sound familiar, but the problem is, they reinforce a negative mindset. Challenge these thoughts! Flip the script by telling yourself:

  • “I am learning to manage my money better every day.”

  • “I am worthy of financial security and abundance.”

  • “I have the power to create wealth.”

  • “I trust that money flows to me and supports my goals.”

It might feel awkward at first, but remember: words have power, and shifting how you speak to yourself is the first step to shifting your relationship with money.

Visualize abundance – Instead of focusing on what you lack, start seeing opportunities. A quick exercise you can try: Close your eyes and imagine money flowing effortlessly into your life. Visualize checks arriving in the mail, unexpected refunds, or a promotion at work. Imagine what it feels like to have more than enough—feel the joy, the security, and the confidence. Do this for a few minutes each day, and it can help shift your mindset toward attracting abundance. My friend used to say, “I’m always broke,” but the moment she shifted to, “Money comes to me in expected and unexpected ways,” things changed. This small mindset shift opens you up to new possibilities!

Practice gratitude – Celebrate what you do have. One technique I love (and use) is the Japanese concept of “arigato money.” Every time I pay for groceries, a bill, or even an online purchase, I say, “Arigato, money,” as a way to thank the money for coming into my life and allowing me to provide for myself. It may seem simple, but this practice creates a sense of gratitude for every dollar that flows in and out, reinforcing a positive, abundant relationship with your finances. When you’re grateful for what you have, you’ll start to notice more coming your way.

Be kind to yourself – Managing money is a skill, not a talent. You’re learning, evolving, and growing. One mistake doesn’t define your journey. So, how do you start talking to yourself with love and support? Try this: when things don’t go as planned, instead of beating yourself up, say, “I’m doing the best I can, and I’m proud of my progress.” It might feel strange at first (trust me, I’ve been there), but over time, it becomes a habit. Be your own cheerleader—remind yourself that you’re capable, resilient, and deserving of financial success.

Remember, your mindset shapes how you react to financial stress or opportunity. When you operate from a place of abundance, you open yourself up to more possibilities and less fear. Your relationship with money can change when youchange how you see it.

So, go easy on yourself, shift that mindset, and watch how differently you approach everything—from spending to saving to investing.
